So this is an email I received the other day from the Itunes Store... Dear Podcast Owner The following podcast has not been included in the iTunes podcast directory. Name: The Live Music Podcast Feed URL: http://www.livemusicpodcast.net/rss Submissions may not be included in the directory for a variety of reasons. For more information, please see the podcast technical specification at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html. Sincerely, The iTunes Store Team As you can imagine this was quite a shock to me since I have been podcasting for a little over a year and have been listed in the store for almost as long. I have tried emailing them back for more of an explanation as to my termination but so far have not received a response. The only explanation that I can think of is that 1) the management of one of the artists I featured complained or 2) someone who works for the store thought I was infringing on copyrights. It's tough for me to know since the email contained such little information and rather than emailing me to allow me to remove any particular episodes they kill the entire show...way to take the shotgun approach. Whoever it was probably failed to read my website's MP3 disclaimer which explains that I will voluntarily remove any music at the owners request. The good news....fortunately this will not affect anyone that is already subscribed to my podcast. Subscribed listeners should receive new episodes of the show automatically but if not you may have to re-add the rss feed. If you haven't subscribed in Itunes you can still subscribe by selecting "Subscribe to Podcast" from the Advanced menu and entering http://www.livemusicpodcast The biggest downer of this is that new listeners will have a much harder time finding my podcast without the aid of the Itunes store. That being said, word of mouth will probably be the most effective advertisement which I leave in your hands. Another thing you can do to help out the LMP is email the Itunes Store to try to get the show reinstated. If you would like to file a complaint click here and maybe if enough people bother them they will listen. Thanks in advance for your support!

As you might remember from the last episode, this show marks the 1 year anniversary here at the LMP. It has been a year filled with some pretty amazing live performances and I'm hoping the following year will bring more of the same. Looking back on the last 12 months I am blown away at the number of listeners that we have received and also the positive comments I have gotten from some of you. Thank you to everyone for tuning in and for your support of the show.
On that note I'll begin the 2nd year of the live music with a download featuring two of my favorite musicians which were also featured in the very first LMP. This time however they will be joined by a few more friends. During the winter of 2003-2004 Dave Matthews and a few close pals including Tim Reynolds and Trey Anastatio combined musical forces for a limited stop tour in support of Dave's solo album "Some Devil". I was lucky enough to catch their stop in Chicago and to this day it still sits at the top of my all time concert list. In all fairness to other shows I've seen, this was really 3 or 4 shows in one. The concert began with Dave and Tim on acoustics, followed up by the full band, then by Dave and Trey on acoustics and finally an encore with the full band. The variety of songs and band's energy really stand out to me and you can tell my the crowd's energy that everyone else there was equally impressed by it. The songs I am featuring were included as part of a Best of Dave and Friends compilation I downloaded from dreamingtree.org. Thanks to Brian at antsmarching.org for assembling it! Follow the link below to listen to the full concert Dave Matthews & Friends - Winter 03-04 Compilation 1) #40 2) The Maker 3) Spanish Moon 4) Waste 5) Everyday 6) Bathtub Gin 7) Up on Cripple Creek 8) Thank You Support the artists by buying music and watching them live!
Check tour dates for Trey Anastatio, Tim Reynolds, and Dave Matthews. |
